ur CAHPI National President, Blaine Swan,
has been travelling across the country. The
first quarter he attended the ASHI Confer-
ence in Phoenix, Arizona; the CAHPI Atlantic
AGM in Halifax; the CAHPI-Alberta AGM in Red Deer;
and the OAHI Winter Educational Conference in Niagara
Falls. The second quarter he attended the CAHPI(BC)
AGM in Kelowna; the AIBQ AGM in Montreal; the NHIE
exam review meeting in St. Louis, MI; CREA, Canada
Green Building Council, the Canadian Manufactured Housing Institute; and the
Appraisal Institute National Conference in Ottawa.
In the fall of 2012, CAHPI will release a “made in Canada” National Stan-
dards of Practice (NSoP). CAHPI will have in place an exclusive agree-
ment with ASHI which will allow our association to copyright the National
Standards of Practice. At the time of publication, most provinces will have
adopted the new standard and will be in transition of using the NSoP. The
Board would like to recognize the efforts of the committee along with Chris
Stockdale, RHI, who has chaired this committee since 2010.
Thank you to those who completed the online technical library survey. We
gathered a lot of valuable information which will assist us in the develop-
ment of this resource.
The National Steering committee has also been active over the past six
months, we are proud to have a revised National Code of Ethics and revised
National Mission Statement. The committee is focused on development of
the 2012 strategic plan. The plan will feature forward thinking strategies,
governance, new member services and communications.
As reported in the last issue: on October 17th, 2011, the new Canadian
“Not for Profit” Corporations Act came into effect. CAHPI is reviewing and
updating the National By-laws to ensure we conform to the new NFP Act.

magazine. That issue celebrated the 10th anniversary of publishing the CHI
magazine. Wasn’t it interesting to see 10 years of issues on the bookshelf
on page 9 and to learn about the committee that makes it all possible.
Register early and save! The 19th Annual National Home Inspectors Confer-
ence is only a few months away. This year it will be in Halifax on October
11th through the 13th, and it promises to be a fantastic event for all. See the
conference registration form on page 16 or
