HOME INSPECTOR
Our Registrar, Lawrence Englehart, informed the
group that our website has seen a large increase
in the number of visitors. I personally can con-
firm much more awareness on the part of realtors
about the benefits of hiring a CAHPI inspector.
Plans are well underway for the upcoming
National Conference. Please see the registration
form on page 16 or the conference website. Terry
Gordon, Conference Chair, has been hard at work
and his committee has been fielding inquiries
from inspectors across the country. This year’s
conference promises to deliver value with edu-
cational seminars, top exhibitors, and of course
Maritime hospitality. We are looking forward to
providing you a unique experience. For more

On June 11th, the association held its quarterly
meeting on Prince Edward Island. This event
included a TIPR for those members who needed
to fulfill this membership status requirement.
Some members are also coming up on their five-
year renewal and must be re-tested.

AIBQ NEWS
The annual members’ meeting was
held on April 25th, 2012. There was
a strong participation for the training course
preceding the meeting. As of April 25th, the
total AIBQ member count is 214.
For our elections this year, five out of nine posi-
tions became vacant. The sitting members are
Denys Aubert, Cynthia Laforte, Daniel Coupal,
Daniel Saindon. There is one vacant post. Only
two persons submitted their candidacy: Cynthia
Laforte and Normand René. It would have been
interesting to see other members of the Associa-
tion submit their candidacy. Moreover, President
Albert Arduini whose mandate was slated to
end in April 2013, announced his resignation as
president and possibly as member of the Board
in the weeks to come. He will stay for awhile to
help with the transition. Mr Arduini explained he
was resigning for personal reasons.
Since the Annual General Meeting, the Board
of Directors now consists of Albert Arduini,
President (temporarily), Cynthia Laforte, Jean-
Jacques Verreault, Yvon Boulais, Pascal Bau-
daux and Normand René. Three or four other
positions will need to be filled.
At the Annual General Meeting, the members
adopted important resolutions and modifica-
tions to our bylaws. Each of the committees
prepared a report. Let us mention that as of
December 31st, 2011 our financial health was
very good - no debts!
A tremendous number of tasks were fulfilled
in the course of the last few months. Here are
some important points: The much sought-after
agreement with the OTPQ has not materialized,
largely because of the
Office des professions
.
The training school associated with CEI
(Collège
de l’Enseignement Immobilier)
will start in the
Fall of 2012 and graduates holding their AEC
(Attestation d’Étude Collégiale)
will be directly
accepted into the association. We finally man-
aged to establish an errors and omissions insur-
ance program that has great features and at
lower rates than the competition. A legal consul-
tation service is now offered to the members. A
code of ethics was developed for the members
of the Board, employees, suppliers and commit-
tees. The lobbyist’s mandate was not renewed.
An important modification to the candidate’s
accreditation procedure has been implemented:
one acceptable written report instead of two.
As part of our disciplinary process, an annual
auto-examination of the members is being
implemented. The budget of the lobbyist will be
transferred to the advertising budget. A commu-
nication plan will serve as a tool to increase the
association’s visibility for 2012-2013. Finally,
we cannot ignore the injunction sent at the
beginning of April against another association of
